Ocho want 3 things, money, winning a SB and attention. IF the trade was made, he’ll start squawking about an extension and a raise. He’ll get plenty of attention as the 9ers #1, but instead of Carson Palmer throwing to him, he’ll have Smith and Hill…even with Martz, I doubt he wants to go to a team that has our QB situation. Don’t get me started on the chances of winning a SB next year

DC9er I agree it likely would not happen, but it’s a heck of a “supplement” if they do. I don’t believe D-line is as high a priority as weakside linebacker. We just got Smith, we moved Sopoaga, and Ronald Fields played admirably against the run.

When they run a 4 down linemen scenario, I see Sopoaga moving inside and McDonald playing the strong side end. McDonald really showed a lot of burst and athleticism last season, and just a rookie. I really think he’s going to come on this year.

Go Cougs, I totally agree that Chad would want to restructure the contract, the question is when? I see him going for two years and then aiming for a restructuring. With the way Paraag “Mad Indian” Marathe works those contracts, I think we could do it. Remember McNolan’s penchant for building through the draft. It keeps your cap numbers low, and they’re very good at structuring deals. The question becomes how well Chad represents the 49ers organization. Does he “become” the 49ers, or does he simply use it as a launching point? I think they will improve on the young Wideouts they bring in, and after two years I could see us parting ways with Johnson and not experience a huge dropoff.

no way chad comes over and doesn’t want to restructure his contract. that could become a problem. i would love to see it happen though

if the niners did trade the first for CJ, they still need D-line and O-line help, which position do you pick. I’d hate to see them pick O-line, but with the D-line, unless the guy’s gonna be 300+ lbs, I’d say it’s worthless.

This would actually be a ridiculously good move.
That being agreed upon, the chances of the Niners doing it are ridiculously low.

To be completely honest, package him up with another wide out. Arnaz maybe, he’d be a good compliment to Housh, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of him complaining.

I know everyone will think I’m nuts, seeing as he’s been our most consitant rec for a few years, but chad would be an upgrade, and it would be worth it.

Perhaps I did not emphasize the point that Chad has four years left, so his contract comes pre-made for four seasons. We don’t have to worry about a new deal for four years. He signed a six-year $35 mil deal, which is chump change for a Pro Bowler of his caliber.

WELL I THINK WE PAID NATE CLEMENTS 80 MIL OVER 8 YRS AND IT DIDNT KILL US ON SALARY CAP BECAUSE FOR THE WAY IT WAS BLED OUT THROUGHOUT THE 8 YEARS I BELIEVE WE COULD DO THE SAME WITH HIM…. SO I DO NOT BELIEVE THE MONEY IS GOING TO BE THE DEAL BUSTER IT WILL BE THE SUPERBOWL WHICH WE ARE BUILDING A GREAT YOUNG TEAM THAT WELL BE VERY COMPETITIVE IN THE COMING YEARS
